How to Reset Sony Sound Bar Subwoofer

0

Sony soundbar and Sony subwoofer are highly effective sound systems used to create clear, crisp audio frequencies, leaving you stuck in the music “zone”! The soundbar alone produces low to mid-range frequencies, while a subwoofer produces the extra bass needed for a perfect sound system. When both devices are connected and used jointly, they add unbeatable finesse to the music being played.

However, your Sony soundbar subwoofer may require a reset from time to time, resulting from some technical or connectivity issues. For easy reference, here is a compilation of the possible problems that could prompt a reset of your subwoofer.

  • The number of connected devices: Your subwoofer is bound to malfunction when too many devices have been connected.
  • Power outage: Repeated improper disruption of the power supply into the subwoofer may eventually demand a reset.
  • Connectivity issues: Whether you are using a Bluetooth-enabled subwoofer or a WiFi-compatible Sony subwoofer, poor connection with the soundbar would disrupt the sound produced. This may be represented by sound cracks, skips, or lagging.

Easy guide on Sony subwoofer reset

Most times, the reset process of a brand of Sony soundbar subwoofer may vary from another brand. However, two general methods can be chosen to reset the Sony subwoofer. Both ways lead to a thorough reload of the device, leaving your subwoofer ready to relink with the soundbar and ultimately creating smooth, crisp, hitch-free sounds.

Method #1: Power Disconnection and Reconnection

You can easily reset your soundbar subwoofer by first disconnecting the device from the power source, i.e., unplugging the subwoofer from the electrical extension or socket. Remove all cables and connect plugs relating to the Sony soundbar, subwoofer, and any other device if there is one.

Leave the unplugged devices for about 60 seconds, allowing them to cool off or ” rest.” Then finally, plug in the Sony subwoofer to the power supply and relink all other required devices, such as the Sony soundbar. This is the easiest reset method, giving the desired outcome eight out of ten times.

Method #2: Special Button Combinations for Subwoofer Reset

When trying to reset the Sony subwoofer, a lot of users tend to look for the reset button on the subwoofer case. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a reset button on the Sony subwoofer.

However, you can reset your subwoofer through a series of special button combinations. This method of reset is preferred to the power disconnection method. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to reset your Sony soundbar subwoofer.

  1. Press and hold the power button of your Sony soundbar.
  2. Press and hold the volume up (+) and the Input selector simultaneously until the Reset icon is shown on the display system or soundbar display panel.
  3. Unplug the soundbar for 30 seconds to 1 minute, and then plug it back in.
  4. Once the soundbar is on, then you can connect the soundbar to the subwoofer easily.

Conclusion

While the above-listed resetting techniques are general and work for most Sony soundbar subwoofers, some brands have built-in reset features. For some, you can simply go to the settings menu and click on the resetting icon (i.e., menu + Setup + Advanced settings + Resetting + start). You can also use your remote control to reset the Sony soundbar subwoofer.
